Accurate measurements prevent sizing mistakes in custom furniture. Here is how to measure your space properly for a bespoke game table.
Basic Room Dimensions
Measure length, width, and ceiling height. Note locations of windows, doors, radiators, and electrical outlets. These affect table placement and size.
Clearance Requirements
Leave minimum 3 feet around all table sides for comfortable seating and movement. More space improves user experience. Tight spaces create cramped gameplay.
Furniture Scale
Compare table size to existing furniture. An oversized chess table can dominate a small room while a petite piece disappears in large spaces.
Traffic Flow
Map primary walking paths. Tables should not block natural movement through the room. Allow 36-48 inches for main traffic routes.
Proportional Guidelines
Table should occupy roughly 1/3 to 1/2 of available floor space. Smaller ratios make rooms feel empty. Larger ratios create cramped conditions.
According to Architectural Digest, proper furniture scale is critical for room balance.
